mating enquiry are given situation reports as follows.

Swatow. Shipping facilities much reduced by labour

shortage. No immediate danger to foreigners.

still call off Port but river is blocked and mine field

laid. British warship at present off port.

Amoy.

Safe for shipping at present but various bombardments from ships and aircraft have taken place.

facilities by day. A pilotage scheme is being

introduced. For other ports mentioned in C in C's
